Catching Fire Review.

After winning the last hunger games you would think things would get better for katniss everdeen right? 

Wrong winning the hunger games was just the start of yet another nightmare for her.

and this new nightmare started with a tour, the victory tour,

held between the annual hunger games so you never have time to forget the horrors of the game,

and in this tour you are forced to celebrate the games and if you are the victor you have to be the main attraction forced to travel the districts celebrating the slaughter that is the hunger games,

also whispers of  revolution reach katniss's ears and that she has started it, getting her a visit from president snow himself telling her to show that she did not mean to start the revolution or else,

 and after a very distressing thing happens at the next huger games it looks like the revolution has completely started.

yet another fascinating book that i enjoyed immensely, maybe not as much as the first book, partly because i had not much of an idea of what to expect for the first.

but anyway it is still fabulous with a great story line. 

 Katniss is still a good main character as are all the other characters from book one, also there is some new good characters, Finnick for one also Beetee and Johanna.

 So please if you haven't read them please do they are Fabulously fantastic and thrillingly awesome!!!!

 

The hunger games

Well it's been a long time,

But I'm back and reviewing The Hunger Games Book one!

When I turned 15 in May I was aloud to read it after years of waiting and wanting, and I am glad I waited it is definitely an older book series I would say no one under 15 should read it.
Its funny I used to love hearing spoilers but now I hate them I definitely did not want to know spoilers for this book, I avoided them like poison (: and Nightlock at that :)

So the story line it's a futuristic Novel in what was once North America,

Which is split into different districts which no one is aloud to leave.... Well except for when it's was the time of the hunger games.

Where the president to show his power and the districts weakness he has two children picked at a random one girl and one boy from each district to fight each other to the death in an arena.

But when Katniss's sister Prim gets chosen she volunteers to go in here place.  
And even though the odds are not all in her favour she proves herself to be a dangerous and skilled enemy, even outside the arena 

My favourite character was a girl called Rue who even though small knows how to survive, and being younger than the rest of the tributes she certainly is smarter than them.

Katniss is strong if not a bit fickle, but every thing she's done is for her family and friends.

Peeta is kind hearted loving and will do any thing for people he loves.

My new book idea..

Yes I have a new idea for yet another story to write and it is about the Chines zodiac well in a sense. 

Firstly what is the zodiac? Well its a repetitive twelve year cycle that that the Chinese have and each year is represented by an animal, So like I was born in the year of the dragon and that's partly why I like dragons so much, because its sort of like my special animal.

So the story is that some people have a special power to be able to change into the animal that was the year  they where born.

 So the main character is born in the year of the dragon (of course) and he can change fully or partly into a dragon so if he wanted to he could have the throat of a dragon and then breath fire,

Any way he go's somewhere to learn about his powers and such.

There is going to be a bad guy but I still have to work out his goal and I might add something like goblins in........ any way its still very new in the making and I will have to think and write some more before I can say any more.

 So a very short post but I just wanted to tell about it so TTFN Ta Ta For Now!

The Berinfell Prophecies Book one The Cures of the Spider King

So it has been a while since I last posted due to holidays and then just not getting around to it, so anyway today I'm reviewing book one in the Berinfell Prophecies, hence the title.                            
 I got this book from a friend to borrow and it was really good I am now currently reading book three in the trilogy but that's for another time :)

Its set in our world and also another world it is about seven young elven lords who where stolen from there world and taken to earth where they are completely unaware of there true identity's but when they turn thirteen their powers begin to set in and it becomes a race between the elves (good guys) and the bad guys to get to the teens.
 The bad guys of course want to kill them and the good guy want to bring them home to help their people,

The sevens names are Johnny, Jimmy, Tommy, Autumn, Kat,  Kirrie Lee, and Jet they all have different Powers and are all good characters but my favorites are Jimmy Kat and Kirrie Lee


So like I said before this is a great book and is different, it might give you a touch of arachnophobia but that wheres of after a while...........maybe (evil laugh)

The Spiderwick Chronicles.

One of my absolute favourite series ever.
 They are absolutely fabulous, a magical combination of fay folk and the modern day world.
Jared grace is just an ordinary kid same as his twin Simon and his sister Mallory (so just your classic main characters)
But when they move to an estate that their Mum inherited from a crazy aunt, but it turns out that this place is no ware near safe after Jared discovers a field guide hidden in a trunk.
 But the odd thing is its about Fairies!
So for the Grace kids the whole world got a huge bit bigger.
  when a power wanting ogre wants the book so he can learn the secrets of the other fairies and destroy them and any one who gets in the way comes after the book the Grace kids decide the only way to save the fairies is to destroy the book they set out to find the author their uncle Spiderwick (Who should be dead) to help them destroy it after finding that it was protected with a charm.
 But finding him not as useful as they thought he might be they have to change to a different approach.
But how do three kids, a brownie, a Griffin and a hobgoblin defeat a shape shifting ogre his army of goblins and dragons?

So absolutely fantastic books I get caught by the magic of them every time I read them and watch the movie for that matter.
Generally when I try to explain it to people they go a bit skeptical when I say fairies but its not like the fairies you think.



 Jared is a bit selfish and not very close to his family but that changes as they go on this adventure together
Simon is the complete opposite to Jared, while Jared is a restless spirit Simon is perfectly content with his life, as long as he can have as many animals as he wants.
Malory is not your ideal big sister but she like the rest changes and grows closer to he family.

Any way I hope you read this series they are a magical series that leave you looking for adventure.

Titanic book three S.O.S

The titanic is sinking and the ship is in utter most terror the captain did not tell the passengers what was fully going on and the lower class are being told to stay bellow but Paddy leads a group of them up any way.
 Some people get on the under adequate amount of life boats but the rest are left to die, Juliana makes it to one but paddy Sophie and Alfie are not so lucky they all make it to a ship in the end but tragedy steps in on Alfie (worst part of the book)

This book happens while the Titanic is sinking and then after as the survivors make a new life for them selves.
 There is a twist to the ending.


Amelia Bronson= a suffragist, in every sens of that word but she is nice and cares for people like her daughter Sophie.
She is a bit stupid sometimes (suffragist don't seam to get that when a man offers his arm or offers for her to go first or wants to protect her is because he respect them and values them very high.

Thomas Andrews=  is nice and treats Paddy like a gentleman.
 He didn't think the titanic was totally indestructible.

Well this is the end of this series I hope you read them, they do not disappoint.

Titanic Book Two Collision course.

So book two of titanic by Gordon Korman.
Paddy is still on the Titanic and is still hunted by Gillhooley but this time he has three friends Alfie, Juliana and Sophie.
But Alfie and Paddy find out there is also a killer on board Jack the ripper!
 Out of action for years due to crippled legs he is on the titanic because at its destination there is someone who might be able to fix his legs.
But Sophie not believing the boys try's to make friends with the crippled man.
It didn't work he attempts to kill her but something much worse happens.


This one is also very well done, the characters are well developed and fun.
 And the bad guy is a really good bad guy.



Juliana= Is a rich daughter of an earl, but her father is in a bad position with his money, partly because he gables a lot.
Juliana finds to her dismay that he is going to marry her of to a rich american.
Never had she felt so alone.


Sophie= daughter of a suffragist mother, Sophie is kind to those below her status.


Jack the ripper= he is creepy and just plain mad but very deadly.


So yet again I suggest you read this wonderful book, I listened to the audio book.
Maybe I should do a negative review soon.

Titanic book one

This book follows the story of a young boy of 14 (my age!!) Paddy.
Paddy and his friend Daniel are street urchins and have to steel to stay alive in Belfast.
It was just another rich pocket that they stole from or so they thought but the person they stole from was not just a ordinary rick man, no this was Mr. Gillhooley a murderous thug ,
But not knowing this Paddy tried spending the money but was outwitted and Paddy barely escapes with his life, after being ambushed with his friend denial just bellow the titanic paddy managed to crawl into a cargo crate after being badly hurt but all that he could see of Danial was a puddle of blood.
 Danial was dead and Paddy was loaded onto the Titanic with the cargo, a stowaway.

This is a truly awesome book.
 Its different because its not just your ordinary fantasy book, its good because yes the characters are fantasy and the story line is made up but the facts are real,
Its based on the Titanic's voyage from a bit before taking of and then to a bit after the ice bergs.
This is not about the movie.


Paddy= Is awesome partly because he is Irish and then because he is a talented thief and is fun.

Alfie= Is a loyal young steward on the titanic who soon becomes Paddy's friend.


Gillhooley= Is a very good villain he just makes you want to Punch him,
 He doesn't give up easily


So I hope you enjoyed this post and I advise you to read this book very soon.
Its one in a trilogy.

The Land of Stories, The Wishing Spell.

So another review but a different series.

The Land of Stories is a fairy tale based story set in the modern day world well sort of.
 Its about twin brother and sister named Conner and Alex and how they somehow enter the fairy tale world after the fairy tales have happened.
Finding out that there only way home is a list of things that will grant a wish but it can be only used once more, but the evil queen from snow white has a different idea for the wishing spell that she has been working on since before snow white, so you get a back story on her.
Going across the land of stories collecting these things a lot of things happen to the twins, like getting caught by goblins an trolls and finding out things that they would never have thought possible.

This is a very light entertaining book that has a good story line, although there are a few bits that are a bit inappropriate, but are only very small and only like twice.
Other then that it is great,
Any way I really like it and there are two other books out plus two more on the way.
It is a bit slow to start with but is worth it.

Alex= Is the ultimate main character, she just an ordinary girl who is a bookworm.

Conner= Messy, Lazy,but is alright.

Frogie= Is sweet and cares about his Friends, he is who starts the twins on their way.



There are a lot more characters but they are not getting a section about themselves.
So this is a very good book and I recommend it to those who love fairy tales or light fantasy or just like reading. TTFN ta ta for now.

The Hope of Germany snippet..

So this is a bit of my story set in WWII, enjoy.


The sound was louder now it no longer came in short hiccup like squeaks, but now a continues crying.
 It was a sound Albert thought he should know but did not, it sounded harmless enough but he couldn't see anything from where he stood but it sounded very close.
So with his ears guiding him he came to a bush covered with delicate red blossoms with little pip like seeds,
Beneath the bush was a basked and in that basket was a baby!
Albert astounded just stood there, but with a sudden rush of concern he picked up the crying infant, eyes scanning the wood looking for somebody who the baby might belong to but saw non, a last his eyes fell on the basket it was just a simple picnic basket stuffed with soft blankets but suck on the side with a hat pin was a note,
 he unpinned it and read the swirly and graceful writing, it read.
Protect my baby don't give him to any one, don't even let them in a room alone with him and never  leave him..... he is the hope of Germany. please care for him.. Albert.
At that instant Albert felt very frightened and a million question came to his mind, how had the writer known his name? who was this baby? and what qualified him to care for him?
But then the baby squirmed from the cold and Albert wrapped him in one of the blankets from the basket and then placed the note in his pocket ,
"well if I'm going to care for you you'll need a name" said Albert, then his eyes fixed on the flowers with the pip like seeds and said. "hello pip" and pip smiled.

From her hiding place within the shrub she smiled, her baby was safe with a person who cared,
Then the tears came but she forced herself to stay put it was for the best. And as the boy, Albert left with her baby and all that had been left with him, she picked her self up and made her way home in tears but with  feeling she had done the right thing.

The Hollow Kingdom Three, In the Coils of the Snake

OK this book is not even about Marak, Kate Seylin or Emily, sure they make appearances but they are not the main characters, the main character is Miranda a human girl who Marak chose to be the wife of his son Catspaw so he wont have to have the suffering he'd had before he found Kate.
Miranda had a unhappy childhood and couldn't wait to go to the goblin kingdom to leave it, but shortly after she gets there marek dies and Catspaw is proclaimed king, but a little before the wedding an elf lord appears and offers Catspaw a deal, which included an elf bride,
After that Miranda is captured be the elf and lives with the elves for some time.
After that her perfectly organised life changes to the completely unexpected.

This book is still not as good as the first one but it is still a good book, Right now I'm leaning towards it over the second, its different from the first two because instead of having the girl go to the goblin kingdom and wed a goblin, its in the elf kingdom, sorry attempt of a kingdom with there life style.
Its more about the elves,


Miranda= is a bit boring, sorry but no one of the main girls is as interesting as Kate but shes not terrible, she has red hair which is always a plus.

Catspaw= is good he is a bit like marek but not as funny.He like Marak wants to do what is best for his people even if it means not doing what he wants.

Nir= is not that great he obviously like catspaw  wants whats best for his people, who are probably more what I would aim for except for their silliness, the elves are a bit silly.

So that's the end of this series but i'll be back,
So all in all a differently good thrilling series.

Close Kin, The Hollow Kingdom book two.

This book is a follow up of the Hollow kingdom, called Close Kin.
This one is focused more on Emily and her goblin friend Syelin,
Emily is in the goblin kingdom on the condition she has to merry a goblin,
but when her best friend Syelin prepossess to her she doesn't under stand and ends up saying that she would never merry him after an argument.
So Seylin depressed go's out and tries to seek the elves (he looks like an elf hence he thinks he is one) thinking that Emily will never be his, but when Emily finds out that he has left she go's  right on out to find him,
This book also follows the story of an elf named Sable who gave up so much just so she could be alive.

This book isn't as good as the first one but its still a good book and is worth reading.
The story isn't as riveting as book one but it is still good,


Emily= Stubborn and prideful, but she has a good heart, if Emily has a goal she sticks to it.

Seylin= He is a goblin that looks like an elf and for a time he thinks he is one.
 Knowing how elves should be he is horrified with what he finds.

Sable= She is a bit boring but most people would like her, she is what you could call a strong character

Marak is still funny and Kate is still good although she isn't as fun any more.



   

The Hollow Kingdom, Book one Review.

This trilogy is really good it follows the story of two sisters Kate and Emily, but Kate is the mane  character.
So the story line is the girls father died recently and they have gone to live in the country on a estate that Kate has inherited.
But one night they are lost in the woods and are escorted home by a very ill mannered man in a black cloak that covers his face that drives Kate crazy,  he takes it of when they are home after Emily is inside, his face was not human!
After that Kate feels like she is being watched and gets quite distraught.
Later finding out that he is a goblin and that he wants to steal Kate and marry her to be his queen of the goblins
But he finds she is a little  harder to get then he thinks.


This is a wonderful book its exiting thrilling and has dry humour but if you don't like getting frightened don't read it at night, but if you do please read it then!!
 This is not strictly a girl book so if your a boy don't be afraid to read it.


Kate= is a strong self sacrificial character who wont give up without a fight, but at the same time she remains a lady, she is awesome

Emily= is a excitable young girl who loves Kate and is the only one who believes Kate about the goblins and isn't that disturbed by the goblins ugliness she is also very stubborn you find more of it in book two.

Marak= he is funny and wants to do what is best for his people, he finds human behaviour interesting
but is still understanding.



So all in all it is a great and thrilling book that I recommend you read very soon.
